GAMES

TINY MONSTER HAVEN (UPCOMING RELEASE)

An idle creature collector. I drew the Steam capsule art.

PAPER ANIMAL ADVENTURE (2025)

An exploration-focused roguelike. I drew both of the game's title screens, one of which is also used as key art and Steam capsule art.

BANDLE TALE: A LEAGUE OF LEGENDS STORY (2024)

Pixel artist for this crafting-focused RPG. I created environment art for the player's backpack house.

MIDAUTUMN (EARLY ACCESS 2023)

Lead pixel artist for this upcoming story-rich rogue-like. I developed a unique art style for the game based on a mashup of both traditional and modern diaspora Asian art styles.

FIREFLY COVE (RELEASE DATE TBA)

A pixel art ranching simulator game, which I did environment art for.

RUBI: THE WAYWARD MIRA (RELEASE DATE TBA)

Animator and cleanup animator for this upcoming 2D action-adventure metroidvania.

SUPER MEAT BOY FOREVER (2020)

Sequel to the hit indie game Super Meat Boy. I did pixel art and claymation for the warp zone levels.

SUPER MEAT BOY: RIVAL RUSH (2018)

2 player card game based off the hit indie game Super Meat Boy that I did a bunch of illustrations for.

VARIOUS INDIE TITLES (2016-PRESENT)

Art and animation for various clients, including SkyBox Labs, for unannounced indie video game titles.

FILMS

ANIMATORS ACROSS THE WORLD ASSEMBLED TO DRAW GENSHIN IMPACT IN 25 STYLES (2024)

An officially sponsored collaboration where multiple animators reimagined the game Genshin Impact in their own art styles. My part can be seen at 2:59-3:11.

GENSHIN IMPACT AS A RETRO RPG (2023)

An officially sponsored reimagining of the hit game Genshin Impact as a retro RPG. Featured in HoYoFair Spring 2023.

CHANGYOU'S JOURNEY (2018)

Award-winning, Oscar qualified animated short film about the journey of a young boy's father from China to the United States. Tribute to the director's late father. I did visual development and background art for this film. I wanted to make sure the emotions of the son and his father were communicated clearly through the color, lighting, and style choices. Since the film is about a tribute told through the eyes of a child, I wanted it to have a hand-drawn look and incorporate classic Chinese brush painting techniques into the backgrounds.

GAME JAMS

MOTE (2022)

Experiential game made for Ludum Dare 50 with the theme: delay the inevitable! You play as a small, fragile sea angel with a very limited lifespan, wandering through the ocean depths in search of light. Made in Game Maker Studio. Collaboration with Matt Fisher and John Mosser.

POSTAL PUP (2018)

Small prototype made for Ludum Dare 42 with the theme: running out of space! Made in Game Maker Studio in a few hours. Collaboration with Matt Fisher, who did character design and collaborated on the coding. Unfortunately, we couldn't participate in the entire Jam due to other work commitments and ended up not finishing what we had planned, but I personally enjoy the cute art style and colorful cast of characters we developed!

PINBALL GARDENER (2018)

Quirky game which combines pinball with a farming simulator. Made for Ludum Dare 41 with the theme: combine 2 incompatible genres! Made in Game Maker Studio over the course of a day. Collaboration with Matt Fisher, who split the workload for the coding with me. Won Best Use of Theme award at the UCLA ACM Studio Jam. Available on itch.io!

RAPTOROUS (2018)

1 player sidescroller where you play as a microraptor trying to reach the goal. Made in C++ 11 and Qt library. All code, art assets, and music made by me over the course of a month. This one was tricky since there was no documentation for games with the Qt graphics library so I had to figure out how to implement everything myself from scratch. Inspired by my favorite arcade game, Joust (1982).

LORD OF THE HOARD (2018)

2 player versus treasure collection game played on a single keyboard. Made in Python 3.0 and the Pygame library. All code, art assets, and music made by me over a single weekend. Inspired by multiplayer Flash games with shared-keyboard controls I used to play with my younger brother.

LOOT LOOKOUT! (2018)

Arcade-style base defense/wave survival game made for Heart Jam 2018. where you protect your crew's loot from plundering ghost pirates! Collaboration with Matt Fisher.
